What kind of glass can be recycled?
What kind of glass can be recycled at collection sites throughout Grays Harbor County?
- clear glass
- brown glass
- green glass
Collection sites have compartment containers for each color of glass and we request that glass be sorted into the appropriate compartment.
What Glass can NOT be recycled?
The following glass can NOT be recycled at any location and must be disposed of in your trash or at your nearest transfer station.
- plate glass
- window glass
- mirrors
- light bulbs*
- ceramics or kitchen cookware (glass pans, measuring cups, etc.).
- fluorescent light bulbs
Why can't glass be recycled curbside?
Glass is no longer accepted at curbside because it often breaks in the cart. Glass shards mix with paper and other recyclables, which then damages recycling processing equipment, lowers the value of the recycled paper, increases processing costs and poses a danger to workers at the sorting stations.
Please sort the glass by color as marked on the collection site containers. This ensures maximum recyclability for the recycled glass.
