White
Goods
White goods are previously owned major household appliances such as
washers, dryers, and refrigerators. White goods are currently accepted
at the County's rural transfer stations and at the Central Transfer
Station, which charge a fee for each piece of white goods accepted.
Butcher’s Scrap Metal, (360) 533-3326, at 1313 Western Ave in
Hoquiam will also accept appliances and water heaters. White goods are
also accepted during the County's Spring
Clean-ups. There may also be second hand stores that will accept
your household appliances to be resold. Check local listings in the
phone book.
Medical Waste
Medical waste is collected from customers throughout the county twice
a month by LeMay Enterprises Inc. All waste collected goes to Seattle
for incineration or autoclaving. If you want more information about
this program or want to become a part of it, call LeMay at 360-533-1251.
Construction
and Demolition Materials
Second Use Building Materials, Inc. is a company whose mission is to divert
reuseable building materials from the landfills. They carry used and discounted
lumber, beams, cabinets, doors, windows, plumbing, electrical, hardwood
flooring, architectural antiques and more. They offer free pick up of
serviceable material and will pay cash for higher value items. There is
a store located in Olympia at 360-709-2769.
C & A Recycling, (360) 532-5220, at Charlie Creek
Road ½ mile South of Aberdeen city limits handles the disposal
of concrete, asphalt, brick and fill material.
MJR Ltd. in North Beach will accept asphalt and concrete.
They can be reached by calling (360) 289-8688, (360) 532-2165, or toll
free at 1-888-289-8689.
Stafford Creek Woodwaste at 741 State Route 105 in
Aberdeen. Their number is (360) 533-8361.
IMEX, Industrial Materials Exchange (206) 296-4899,
Sponsored by the Seattle-King County Health Department, this free information
exchange is designed to help businesses and organizations find alternatives
to disposal or industrial by-products, surplus materials and wastes.
IMEX’s goal is to conserve energy, resources and landfill space.
Call to receive their catalog, which lists items that are wanted as

WA State Department
of Ecology (360) 407-6000. DOE coordinates an interactive web page,
the Reusable Building Materials Exchange for contractors, home remodelers
and other interested persons to exchange small or large quantities of
used or surplus building materials. The web site is www.rbme.com

Used Furniture, Toys,
Clothes, and Housewares
Hold a garage sale or donate these materials to a local charity organization
or second hand store in your area. There is no need for reusable items
like these to go in the landfill.
Plastic Bottles
Milk jugs can be recycled at drop-box locations
around the County. There is also a drop box for milk jugs (and other
items) at the Central Transfer Station at 4201 Olympic Highway East
in Aberdeen. This drop box is open during business hours. Milk jugs
are currently being collected curbside in McCleary. This program may
be expanded in the future.
Currently no other plastics are being recycled by drop box or curbside.
Plastic recycling may become a part of the recycling program in the
future. To encourage LeMay to start this program, call 360-533-1251,
write your County
Commissioner, or contact your County’s
Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
