What to Recycle

All recyclables can now be placed into one cart, no sorting is required. Note: all materials must be inside the cart to be collected. Materials outside the cart (such as cardboard) will not be collected. Please click on each product for more specific information.

The following materials can be recycled through Grays Harbor County's curbside recycling program:

Cans
Cardboard 
Egg Cartons  (cardboard)
Newspapers
Paper
Paper Milk Cartons
Plastic Bottles

GLASS can no longer be recycled through Grays Harbor County's curbside recycling program.

WHAT NOT TO RECYCLE

  • No food or other organic waste
  • No glass
  • No food-contaminated items. This includes food-contaminated cardboard, paper or boxes (such as pizza boxes), aluminum foil, paper plates, paper towels, TV dinner trays, or used tissues.
  • No soiled or wet newspaper, rubber bands or string.
  • No scrap metal
  • Household hazardous waste
  • No plastic bags, wide-mouth plastic tubs (such as margarine, yogurt or cottage cheese), plastic trays, plastic toys, automotive product containers, poison or pesticide bottles. No plastic lids.
  • No filled or partially filled containers containing household hazardous wastes, such as motor oil, paint, poison, cleaning fluids, insecticides, solvents, acids, gasoline, pool chemicals, highly flammable liquids, radioactive materials, or toxic chemicals. Discard empty household hazardous waste containers in your regular trash.
  • Do not place trash, greenery, lawn and garden waste or hazardous materials in your recycling cart.

How to prepare materials for recycling

Preparation is easy:

  • Recyclables should be clean, rinsed, dry and empty.
  • Rinse containers with water and leave no food residue.
  • Do not bag items
  • Labels can stay on.
  • Throw away plastic lids.
  • Carts should be at the curb by 6 a.m. on your scheduled recycle day. Click here for more cart placement information.
