The ER&R Division has responsibility for purchasing and
maintaining county vehicles and equipment. This includes
Sheriff's Department vehicles, the three County Road area
shops' vehicles/equipment, and all the pool cars.
In addition to maintaining vehicles, the shop contains
a body and paint area for repairs. Minor repairs of Public
Works vehicles and equipment are completed in the shops
located in Elma, Cosmopolis, and Copalis with heavy maintenance
completed in the main shop in Montesano. The County has
a current inventory of 78 vehicles and 63 pieces of equipment.
Other equipment is rented on an as needed project basis.
ER&R is staffed by a mechanic at each of the outlying shops
and 3 mechanics at the main facility.
ER&R also includes the Communications Section. The
purpose of this section is to provide a countywide radio
communications system. This section is responsible for acquiring,
installing, and maintaining all radio equipment for the
County Sheriff's Department and Public Services Department.
This section also maintains all communications equipment
in the County Jail and the Juvenile Detention Facility.
In addition to these direct county functions, the Communications
Section also provides maintenance and operates remote communication
towers throughout the county and provides essential installation
and maintenance services to other public agencies such as
the County E-911 System and Grays Harbor Transit.
This system is essential to the public safety and is critical
during all county emergencies.
It is staffed by three technicians.
