The Environmental Health Division provides a variety of environmental and public health services under federal, state, and local code provisions.
Mission Statement
The goal of the Environmental Health Division is to provide a safe and healthy environment for the citizens of Grays Harbor County through awareness and the control of environmental hazards. Environmental Health programs are guided by the Grays Harbor County Board of Health and are aimed at minimizing the exposure to hazards through the implementation of activities that target key factors including but not limited to, drinking water, sewage, solid waste, water recreation, vectors, and other chemical and physical hazards.
Specific activities the division is responsible for include the following:
- Inspecting restaurants, public water systems, solid waste facilities, and
public pools and spas for sanitary operating procedures and compliance with
state and/or local regulations.
- The evaluation of soils on building lots for the purpose of designing on-site
sewage disposal systems.
- Testing drinking water of private and public water systems for bacteriological
quality and nitrate levels.
- Other duties include the compliance of RV parks and schools, vector control,
ensuring the decontamination of known drug labs, and general sanitation.

Likewise you can also contact this office directly to request a complete on-site sewage application, please specify if you need both septic and water availability, we will be more than happy to mail you a complete application. Remember all on-site sewage disposal systems in Grays Harbor County must be designed by a Washington State Licensed On-Site Designer or Professional Engineer, (contact this office for a listing). You may want to speak with your designer or engineer prior to submitting your application |
