SOLID WASTE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SWAC)
District 1: Dan Boeholt
District 2: Delroy Cox, Doug Paling, Brian Smith
District 3: Midge Gamboa, Vicke Delaney
The Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) acts as the eyes and ears of the public to provide guidance to the County and municipalities regarding the most environmentally safe and economically responsible methods for waste reduction, recovery, and disposal.
State law, RCW 70.95.165, requires each County to appoint a SWAC with a minimum of nine members that represent a balance of interests: citizens, public interest groups, business, the waste management industry, and local elected officials.
The Board of County Commissioners appoints members to the committee. The SWAC plays an instrumental role in developing and updating the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan. With staff assistance, the SWAC stays informed on all aspects of solid waste management in the County.
During the plan preparation process, the SWAC reviews current conditions and makes recommendations for future policies and programs.
If you have questions and comments for the SWAC please contact Mark Cox at (360) 249-4222 or via email at mcox@co.grays-harbor.wa.us.
