Spring Clean-ups

Let’s Make Our Communities Shine!

Every year around April and May, the Utilities and Solid Waste Division hosts Spring Clean-Up events located throughout the county. These are very popular events where county residents can bring in hard to dispose of items and dump them free of charge. Many cities also hold their own Spring Clean-Up events.

There are certain restrictions for participants including a limit of 1 load per standard pickup truck (1 ton or less) or 2 car loads.A limit of 4 car tires and 1 refrigerator/freezer per vehicle. Also, no raw garbage, car hulks, large tires, or any hazardous wastes will be accepted. There is a $5 fee to dispose of propane tanks as well.

Hazardous Wastes (paints, thinners, cleaners, oil, pesticides, batteries, etc.) can be disposed of at our Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Facility on Wednesdays and the 1st Saturday of each month from 9:00am – 3:30pm. For more information.

The County’s goal is to involve citizens and community groups in cleaning up their neighborhoods and communities, not just their own backyards. Many communities around the County have volunteer groups that you can become involved with to clean up litter or work on other problem areas and projects. Other communities need your help in starting a volunteer group. Call Mark Cox (Assistant Solid Waste Manager) at (360) 249-4222 ext. 436 to find out what opportunities are available in your area.

When you are preparing for your local spring clean-up event please try to sort out recyclable and reusable material to dispose of separately. There is no need for these items to be buried in the landfill. Post still usable items on 2good2toss.com . It's free to use, and you can sell your items for up to $99 each. Remember, one person's trash is another person's treasure!
