COMMON LIMITING FACTORS in WRIA 22-23 and their impact to physical processes and salmon
Large Wood (LWD)
Physical Process Effects
LWD deficiencies are usually the result of poor riparian conditions and removal of wood from the channel. Insufficient amounts of wood causes inadequate substrate retention and gravel sorting and can contribute to channel scour and incision. Low levels of wood inhibits instream channel complexity (cover, pools, and riffles), and provides poor nutrient supply.
