Initially parcel numbers may appear to be nothing
more than a series of twelve random digits combined to define
a piece of property. However, with a quick lesson in the
County's numbering scheme, I believe the parcel number system
will begin to make sense to you.
Logically, Grays Harbor County has been divided
up into a grid like coordinate system of cells called 'Townships'.
A 'Township' is defined as a township number combined with
a Range number, where 'Range' refers to a location running
from East to West and 'Township' refers to a location from
South to North. Within each of these Townships, there are
thirty-six 'Sections', each being approximately one mile
square.
Twelve (12) digit parcel numbers come
in a couple of flavors: Platted, Inside Acreage and Outside
Plats.
