Grays Harbor County Hiring Procedures

It is the policy of Grays Harbor County to not accept unsolicited resumes and application for employment.

When a position covered under the bargaining unit agreement becomes vacant it is first posted in-house to all members under the bargaining for five working days. If the position is not filled from within or is not covered by the bargaining unit agreement it is then advertised to the public.

The Montesano Vidette is the County’s legal newspaper and all positions will be published in The Vidette. It is procedure to also publish positions in The Daily World. Depending on the nature of the position to be filled the position may be published outside the area.

Below are a few tips that may be helpful to applicants when applying for a position:

  • All applications must be completed in full. An incomplete application may be grounds for rejection. A resume is optional but encouraged.
  • Any dishonest entries or information withheld will be grounds for applicant rejection. If such dishonesty is discovered after employment, the employee will be discharged.
  • An applicant must complete an application for each position they desire
    to be considered for.
  • Applications must be returned by the closing date listed.
